Senior Databricks Data Architect

Location: London - Hybrid, 3 days per week onsite

Contract: Contract

We are looking for an experienced Senior Databricks Data Architect with strong hands-on Data Engineering expertise to join a major data transformation programme.

This is a senior onsite role requiring someone who can combine Data Architecture leadership with hands-on Databricks engineering, supporting both Legacy platform stabilisation and the development of a modern data platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and drive Databricks Data Architecture across the programme.
• Provide hands-on support across the Data Engineering stream.
• Lead the design and optimisation of scalable, reliable data pipelines.
• Support Legacy data platform stabilisation and modern platform development.
• Act as the senior technical interface for onsite stakeholders and product teams.
• Own reliability of critical data pipelines and drive permanent resolution of production incidents.
• Drive platform performance and cost optimisation.
• Make key architecture and engineering decisions.
• Establish engineering standards and DevOps best practices.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to Data Engineers.

Key Skills & Experience

• Extensive experience as a Data Architect/Senior Data Architect.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Databricks.
• Strong hands-on Data Engineering experience.
• Proven experience designing and building enterprise-scale data pipelines.
• Strong understanding of modern data platforms and architecture.
• Experience with platform performance and cost optimisation.
• Strong understanding of DevOps/CI/CD within data environments.
• Strong stakeholder management and technical leadership skills.
• Ability to remain hands-on technically, rather than operating purely at architecture level.

Important: This is not a purely architectural position. Candidates must have strong Databricks architecture experience combined with hands-on Data Engineering capability.
