Summary: The Senior Data Engineer role focuses on developing and optimizing scalable data pipelines within an Azure-based data platform for a well-known organization. The position requires collaboration with various teams to deliver reliable data solutions that support analytics and business decision-making. The role is hybrid, requiring one day per week onsite in Manchester, and is offered as a 6-month contract. The position is classified as outside IR35 with a competitive daily rate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines for structured and unstructured datasets
  • Develop ELT workflows using Azure Databricks and PySpark
  • Write efficient SQL queries and support data modelling activities
  • Support batch and near real-time data processing requirements
  • Work across Azure services including Storage Accounts, Event Hubs, and Key Vault
  • Help improve data quality, governance, and platform reliability
  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions

Key Skills:

  • Experience working as a Data Engineer within an Azure environment
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks and PySpark
  • Strong SQL skills and understanding of relational databases
  • Experience supporting and maintaining production data pipelines
  • Good communication skills and ability to work within cross-functional teams
  • Exposure to streaming technologies or real-time data processing (nice to have)
  • Experience with data governance tooling or Unity Catalog (nice to have)
  • Exposure to Salesforce or Data Cloud integrations (nice to have)

Salary (Rate): £62.50/hr

Senior Data Engineer (Azure / Databricks) £500/day Outside IR35 Manchester – Hybrid (1 day per week onsite) 6-month contract

We’re working with a well-known organisation looking to bring in a Data Engineer to support the ongoing development of their Azure-based data platform. This role will focus on building and optimising scalable data pipelines that support analytics, reporting, and wider business decision-making across the organisation. You’ll be working closely with data, product, and business teams to deliver reliable and practical data solutions in a modern cloud environment.
