Summary: The Senior Data Engineer role involves joining a high-impact data team for a leading ecommerce client, focusing on building scalable, Cloud-native data platforms and high-quality data pipelines. The position requires strong hands-on experience in data engineering, particularly within the retail and ecommerce sectors, and offers the opportunity to influence platform design and delivery. This is a 6-month contract with a flexible working structure, primarily remote with one day per week in the London office.

  • Strong cloud expertise across Azure and/or AWS.
  • Hands-on experience using Python/SQL.

Salary (Rate): £650 daily

Leading ecommerce client now requires an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join a high-impact data team working on a modern, event-driven analytics platform. This will work on building out scalable, Cloud-native data platforms and high-quality data pipelines to improve their operations and processes.

Key skills & experience

  • Strong commercial experience as a hands-on Data Engineer within the retail, ecommerce, travel space etc.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Databricks (Spark, Delta Lake, streaming)
  • Proven experience with Event Sourcing and event-driven data architectures
  • Strong cloud expertise across Azure and/or AWS
  • Hands on experience using Python/SQL.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex, modern data architecture in a collaborative environment, with real influence over platform design and delivery. The role is an initial 6-month contract which provides a daily rate of £650 p/d (Outside IR35). In terms of working structure, this is flexible with one day per week in their London office and the rest remote.
