Summary: This role is for a Senior Data Engineer focused on integrating Finance and Actuarial modules into a new Azure Data Platform within the Lloyd's Market. The position requires deep technical expertise in Azure technologies and SQL Server, along with experience in Finance and Actuarial data processes in the insurance sector. The ideal candidate will engage with senior business stakeholders to deliver effective data solutions. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract opportunity within a respected insurance business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement data solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform (Azure Databricks, Azure SQL Database).
- Provide technical guidance to the project development team.
- Bridge communication gaps between offshore, third-party, internal teams, and business stakeholders.
- Track and manage development progress, working closely with project managers and scrum masters.
- Foster relationships to align expectations between team members and stakeholders.
- Ensure solutions are properly tested, documented, and meet business needs.
- Manage tasks and ensure agreed-upon delivery timelines.
Key Skills:
- Expertise in database design, performance optimization, and data warehousing.
- Strong experience with Azure data technologies, including Azure Databricks, SQL Database, Data Factory, and T-SQL.
- In-depth understanding of London Market insurance data and Actuarial/Finance business processes.
- Experience with ETL processes, data modelling, and dimensional modelling techniques.
- Proficient with Azure DevOps, CI/CD, GIT, and deployment strategies.
- Proven track record in delivering cloud-based enterprise data solutions and supporting analytics/reporting functions.
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server, including creating stored procedures for complex data transformations.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
