Key Responsibilities:
- Operational security and assisting with the design, implementation, and development of security controls and systems.

- Apply appropriate security controls to hardware and software assets.

On behalf of The Ministry of Justice we are looking for a Senior Cyber Security Engineer (Inside IR35) for a 12 month contract. Hybrid working with 2 days per week in any MOJ office. The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) priorities include improving public safety and reducing reoffending by reforming prisons, probation and youth justice, and building a justice system which makes access to justice swifter and more certain for all citizens whatever their background. Project professionals in the MoJ help to improve the government’s ability to protect the public and reduce reoffending, and to provide a more effective, transparent and responsive criminal justice system for victims and the public.
As a Senior Cyber Security Engineer, your main responsibilities will be:
- Operational security and assisting with the design, implementation and development security controls and systems.
- Ensure that incidents are detected, prioritised, investigated, contained, remediated and that operational security controls are measured and constantly improved.
- Continually evaluate, review and advise on current developments in all areas of cyber security and cyber threats;
- Apply appropriate security controls to all hardware and software assets.
- Proactively monitor networks and systems for evidence of potential threats.
- Lead response activities to minimise the impact of cyber incidents, including technical investigation into the root cause and extent of any damage.
- Ensure remediation work identified by IT Health Checks and Audits is undertaken.
- Provide constant review and improvement of cyber security policies, best practice and implementation.
Essential: An active SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. (Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.)
