Senior Core Network Engineer IOS = MUST HAVE BANKING EXPERIENCE

A leading global financial institution is hiring a Senior Core Network Engineer to join its EMEA network engineering team.

You'll work across the design, automation, migration, and lifecycle management of large-scale core network infrastructure, with a strong focus on Cisco IOS-XR, Cisco NSO, MPLS Segment Routing, and Optical Transport.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support large-scale WAN, MAN, and optical networks.
• Lead core network migrations, software upgrades, hardware refreshes, and transformation programmes.
• Produce low-level designs, migration plans, implementation procedures, and rollback documentation.
• Provide technical leadership across complex network engineering projects.
• Troubleshoot routing, forwarding, and control-plane issues in large production environments.
• Develop and maintain Cisco NSO automation solutions.
• Build automation using Python, YANG, NETCONF, REST APIs, and model-driven networking.
• Support Infrastructure-as-Code, compliance, provisioning, and configuration automation.
• Work closely with architecture, operations, vendors, and project teams.

Core Technical Skills

• 10+ years' experience in large enterprise or service provider networking.
• Strong Cisco IOS-XR experience.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco 8000, ASR 9000, and NCS platforms.
• Strong knowledge of:
• MPLS
• Segment Routing
• BGP
• ISIS
• OSPF
• EVPN
• L2VPN/L3VPN
• Multicast
• QoS
• IPv4/IPv6
• Strong Cisco NSO experience.
• Experience with Python, YANG, NETCONF, REST APIs, gNMI, and Git.
• Experience with optical networking, DWDM, dark fibre, Metro Ethernet, and carrier services.

Desirable

• CCNP or CCIE.
• Terraform, Ansible, or Infrastructure-as-Code experience.
• Cisco Crosswork exposure.
• Cloud networking experience across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• SD-WAN or Arista experience.
• Experience within financial services or other large regulated environments.

Ideal Profile

A senior network engineer with deep Cisco IOS-XR and Cisco NSO expertise, proven experience delivering large-scale network migrations and upgrades, and a strong background in network automation and core infrastructure transformation.
