Summary: The Senior Control-M Engineer role involves designing, developing, and administering batch workflows using Control-M within a hybrid working model. The position requires extensive experience in system administration, integration, and troubleshooting of Control-M components. The engineer will also mentor junior team members and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align solutions with business objectives. This is a contract position based in Sheffield, UK, for a duration of 12 months or more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize batch workflows using Control-M to meet business requirements.
- Install, configure, and maintain Control-M components, including Servers, Agents, and Enterprise Manager.
- Integrate Control-M with various applications and databases, ensuring seamless data flow and process automation.
- Monitor batch jobs, troubleshoot failures, and implement solutions to ensure timely execution.
- Plan and execute Control-M upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimal disruption.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to align Control-M solutions with organizational goals.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for workflows, configurations, and procedures.
- Provide guidance and training to junior team members, fostering knowledge sharing and skill development.
Key Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience working with BMC Control-M in both development and administrative capacities.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Shell, Python, or PowerShell for automation tasks.
- Experience with integrating Control-M into cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Strong understanding of workload automation, job scheduling, and batch processing concepts.
- Familiarity with observability tools like AppDynamics, Splunk, or Grafana is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Preferred Certifications: BMC Certified Associate or Professional in Control-M, ITIL Foundation Certification.
