Summary: The Senior Contracts Officer (Legal) role involves managing and advising on research-related and commercial contracts within a small legal team on a fixed-term contract basis. The position requires drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts while managing legal risks and mentoring junior colleagues. The role is hybrid, requiring two days in Oxford, and is set for a duration of six months. Candidates should possess a law degree or relevant legal qualification and have experience in a busy Contracts/Legal team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and advise on research-related and commercial contracts for stakeholders.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts while managing legal risk.
- Deputise for the Head of Team and mentor junior colleagues.
- Build effective internal and external relationships.
Key Skills:
- Law degree or relevant legal qualification (LLB, LLM, CPE, SQE, LPC, CILEX).
- Experience in a busy Contracts/Legal team (public sector/in-house preferred).
- Strong drafting, negotiating, and risk management skills.
- Knowledge of Data Protection and relevant legislation.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and initiative.
