Summary: The Senior Consolidation Accountant role involves leading the production of accounts and providing technical accounting advice within a government framework. The position requires active SC Clearance and includes responsibilities such as audit liaison, process improvement, and balance sheet management. This is an initial 5-month contract requiring 3 days per week onsite. The candidate must have extensive experience in consolidations, particularly within a large government department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the production of accounts, preparing and submitting complex journal adjustments.
- Work with National Audit Office staff to ensure smooth audit progression and respond to complex queries.
- Provide technical accounting advice in line with government reporting frameworks.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial control.
- Manage key balance sheet items and monthly processes, including reviewing working papers and approving journals.
- Support additional finance processes, including in-year budget management and small company account preparations.
Key Skills:
- Qualified accountant
- Extensive consolidations experience
- Whole of Government Accounts (WGA) experience
- Consolidations experience in a large government department
- Understanding of complex financial interdependencies
