Summary: The Senior Commercial Finance Manager will play a pivotal role in guiding the Commercial Finance team through a transformative period, acting as a strategic partner to key stakeholders. This position requires a blend of financial expertise, strategic thinking, and strong stakeholder management, with responsibilities including financial modelling and business planning. The role is interim for six months, based in Central London, and involves significant interaction with executive leadership. The position offers a competitive daily rate and the opportunity to contribute to a globally-renowned scientific research organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a trusted advisor to ExCo, providing insight, challenge, and exception-based reporting.
- Influence strategic decisions through financial challenge and alignment with commercial and charitable goals.
- Lead financial strategy through changing priorities and BAU, supporting ExCo and programme directors.
- Oversee Partnering for Equity and international finance strategy alongside major global programmes.
- Lead long-range planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow development.
- Build robust business cases and post-implementation reviews.
- Consolidate financials across segments and liaise with the investment team.
- Design and deliver reporting strategy, KPIs/OKRs, and variance analysis.
- Prepare leadership performance packs and support strategic stress testing.
- Maintain financial models for scenario planning and economic forecasting.
- Contribute to the annual report.
Key Skills:
- Be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CA/CPA/CIPFA or equivalent)
- Have experience leading commercial finance teams within fast-paced environments
- Have first-class reporting skills
- Be a champion of equality and diversity
- Have experience leading teams through periods of change
