Main duties of the job Appointees will work on the middle tier rota. They will supervise junior doctors in training and will have on-site Consultant support for 16 hours of the day. They will provide senior clinical care and support across the adult majors, resus and within the co-located children’s ED. The department has a good track record of developing senior EM doctors and support will be given to work towards gaining a Specialty Doctor post or Specialist Registration via Article 14. The posts could also support an individual to develop a special interest prior to starting as a Consultant. The department has recently supported 2 Specialty and Staff Grade doctors through the Fellowship Examination (FRCEM). Up to 20% of the job plan can be non “shop floor” time to pursue a special interest.
