Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of heavy civil engineering, bridging the gap between design and construction.
  • Drive the completion of major structures, including a Canal Viaduct and five new bridges.
  • Manage large-scale earthworks operations, including soil nailing and embankment construction.
  • Handle logistics for highways and drainage, including road closures and drainage systems.
  • Liaise with stakeholders such as the Canal and River Trust and utility providers.

Key Skills:

  • Minimum of 10 years' post-graduate engineering experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of large rail structures, earthworks, drainage, and rail MEP systems.
  • Experience in both consultancy/design and site-based contractor roles.
  • Proven experience on major infrastructure projects (£1bn+).
  • Experience with complex assurance and quality processes.
  • Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer or working towards it.

Are you a delivery-focused Senior Project Engineer with extensive heavy civils experience?Did you start your career as civil/ structural designer?

Rate: £500-£550 per day

Location: Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. 4 days on-site per week.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a major main contractor joint venture delivering a critical section of HS2. Based on-site in Southam, you will act as the key link between construction and design, taking ownership of day-to-day engineering challenges and ensuring works are delivered right the first time.

This role is suited to a Senior Project Engineer with a pragmatic, delivery-focused approach, someone who enjoys being visible on-site, resolving issues promptly, and supporting the construction team with sound technical judgement.

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years' post-graduate engineering experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of large rail structures is essential, with earthworks, drainage, and rail MEP systems highly preferred.
  • Hybrid background with experience in both consultancy/design and site-based contractor roles.
  • Proven experience on major infrastructure projects (e.g., Crossrail, Thames Tideway, or similar £1bn+ projects in rail or major civils).
  • Experience working within complex assurance and quality processes.
  • Proactive, delivery-focused approach with a willingness to take ownership.
  • Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer or working towards.

About the Work:

As Senior Project Engineer, you will oversee all aspects of heavy civil engineering, bridging the gap between design and construction, and taking ownership of technical challenges across a range of workstreams, including:

  • Major Structures: Driving the completion of a Canal Viaduct and five new bridges, resolving issues with pier construction, parapet installation, and decking.
  • Large-Scale Earthworks: Overseeing a massive operation, including complex soil nailing, bunds, and embankment construction.
  • Highways & Drainage: Managing the logistics of road closures, temporary road builds, VRS installation, and associated drainage systems.
  • Critical Interfaces: Liaising directly with stakeholders such as the Canal and River Trust, utility providers, and the incoming Rail Systems contractors.
