Summary: The Senior Civil Engineer (Structures) role involves leading the design and analysis of civil and structural systems for a Tier One Civil Engineering Contractor on a 6-month contract. The position is office-based with some travel for site or client visits, requiring a strong background in civil or structural engineering. The successful candidate will mentor junior engineers and ensure compliance with UK standards and client specifications. Experience in sectors such as Oil and Gas or Nuclear is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and contribute to the design and analysis of civil and structural systems
- Prepare and review calculations, technical specifications, drawings, and design reports
- Perform structural assessments and integrity checks on existing assets, including load analysis and seismic design where required
- Liaise with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, and piping engineers
- Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, and construction phases
- Ensure designs comply with UK standards, industry codes, and client specifications
- Contribute to safety case documentation and design justifications in regulated environments
- Attend site, client and inspection visits as required
- Mentor junior engineers and support project management in planning and resource allocation
Key Skills:
- Between 5-10 years of experience in Civil or Structural Engineering
- BEng or equivalent in Civil / Structural Engineering
- Previous experience in sectors such as Oil and Gas or Nuclear
- Previous experience with design software
