Summary: The Senior Civil Engineer role involves providing design deliverables that meet safety and quality standards within the water industry. The position requires collaboration with clients and project teams, as well as the direction of CAD technicians and junior designers. Candidates should have significant experience in design and be working towards chartership with a professional body. The role offers a mix of office-based work with occasional remote working possibilities after an initial period.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide design deliverables that satisfy safety and quality requirements.
- Identify efficient design solutions from scopes and site visits and communicate these to client and project team.
- Direct and develop CAD technicians and more junior designers and graduates.
- Prepare design risk assessments, reports and specifications.
- Design in compliance with relevant technical, professional and water company standards.
- Ensure project change for design package is fully implemented and recorded.
- Undertake work using formal processes and procedures.
- Estimate hours required for design packages.
- Attend and present designs at ALM, KM meetings and similar.

Occasional site visits for which travel expenses will be paid
Working from home: Possible on occasional basis when required provided agreed in advance. Possibility of agreeing 1 or 2 days from home after the first 3 months for a strong candidate.

Senior Civil Engineer Experience Required Qualifications & Experience
- 10 years’ relevant design experience in the water industry
- Graduate, HND or significant experience from Technician level
- Good level IT
- Registered with professional body and working towards chartership
Senior Civil Engineer Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Chartered engineer
- Experience with both clean and dirty water
- Awareness of construction methods and materials.
- Knowledge of Engineering Drawing Practices.
