Summary: Our client, a leading consultancy in the buildings sector, is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer for a long-term contract. The role focuses on civil engineering design services, particularly drainage solutions for building projects, and is classified as inside IR35. The position requires extensive experience in drainage design and strong communication skills. The ideal candidate will also have a desire to progress into a managerial role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the design and development of drainage systems for building projects
- Preparing comprehensive drainage strategy reports and flood risk assessments
- Utilising design software such as Causeway Flow, Info Drainage, AutoCAD, Civils 3D, and QGIS to develop accurate designs
- Collaborating with clients and other stakeholders, ensuring excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Preparing and delivering detailed technical reports and design documentation
- Working on Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) strategies
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, including S106 and S278 agreements
- Supervising and mentoring junior engineers and technicians as needed
Key Skills:
- Extensive experience in drainage design, with road design being an advantage
- Strong report writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients
- Proficiency in various design software, including REVIT (awareness), AutoCAD, and Civils 3D
- Experience in below ground drainage design and SuDS strategies
- Understanding of S106 and S278 agreements and their implementation
- Experience in Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategy reports
- Chartered status or working towards chartership (MICE)
- Accredited degree in Civil Engineering
- Ambitious and motivated individual with a desire to move into a managerial position
