Summary: As a Senior Civil Engineer (HVDC), you will lead civil engineering efforts for HVDC infrastructure projects, ensuring safe and efficient delivery to high technical standards. Your role involves managing civil engineering resources, developing specifications, and supporting project execution phases. You will contribute to the UK's low-carbon energy transition through effective project management and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. This position is based in Warwick with a hybrid working arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team to specify civil engineering packages including FEED/ECI/EPC for all civils elements including Converter stations, cables and substations.
- Provide expert support to delivery teams during survey works and project execution.
- Devise robust assurance plans for all works, and ensure all scopes are sufficiently resourced with civil engineering support.
- Support with undertaking value engineering/reliability assessments of project elements.
- Accountable for ownership of project civil engineering risks and associated mitigation strategies.
- Manage and coordinate internal and external civil engineering resources, including consultants and surveyors.
- Develop and review technical specifications, design criteria, and FEED deliverables.
- Organising and incorporating architectural inputs into civil designs and the DCO deliverables.
- Interface with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Work with the Global Procurement team through to support procurement activities by preparing technical documentation, evaluating bids, and responding to supplier queries for main civils contracts.
Key Skills:
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering design and construction in infrastructure or energy sectors.
- Experience leading FEED or early-stage design phases of large-scale projects.
- Familiarity with geotechnical, structural, and environmental engineering principles.
- Skilled in project management, including scope, cost, schedule, and risk control.
- Understanding of UK planning and permitting processes.
