Senior Chemical Engineer - Process (Contract)

Summary: The Senior Chemical Engineer - Process role involves working within a multidisciplinary team to deliver the FEED phase of a chemical production project for a key client in the chemical sector. The position requires the development of process engineering deliverables and collaboration with junior engineers and design team members. This contract role is based in Manchester, with flexible working arrangements, including a minimum of one day per week in the Salford Quays office. The project focuses on batch chemical processing and is currently in the FEED phase.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produce design deliverables including calculations, specifications, and reports.
• Conduct site surveys and perform construction stage duties.
• Engage in client liaison with design and construction teams.
• Check deliverables produced by colleagues for quality and compliance.
• Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary design team members.
• Contribute to preparation of enquiry plans, fee estimates, scopes of work, and change controls.
• Support junior engineers and other team members in achieving project goals.

Key Skills:

• Relevant degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Demonstrable experience in design and engineering within the chemical sector.
• Experience in developing Process Flow Diagrams, P&IDs, and equipment datasheets.
• Proficiency in standard process engineering calculations, including pressure drop and pump sizing.
• Ability to conduct heat transfer and heat & mass balance calculations.
