Senior C++ Developer - Unix/Linux

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior C++ Software Engineer to join a PTP Platform development group, working within a focused Agile/Scrum team. The role involves developing and enhancing a leading cloud-based securities processing platform used by global financial institutions.

You will work across the full software development lifecycle, contributing to strategic platform enhancements and client implementation projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse user requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions and designs.
• Develop new features and enhancements using C++.
• Break down requirements into manageable development tasks and provide estimates.
• Participate in and lead code reviews, maintaining high development and engineering standards.
• Work closely with Agile/Scrum teams across the software development lifecycle.
• Take ownership of key functional areas within the platform.
• Support client implementation and strategic platform enhancement projects.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to best practices within the team.

Essential Skills & Experience

• 7+ years of commercial C++ software development experience.
• Strong hands-on C++ development skills.
• Solid Unix/Linux experience.
• Good SQL experience.
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and solution design.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Degree in a numeric/technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

Desirable Skills

• Oracle experience.
• Event-driven/distributed messaging technologies such as Kafka.
• Experience within financial markets, securities processing or trade lifecycle environments.
• C# experience.
• GUI development experience.

Ideal Candidate

A hands-on Senior C++ Developer with strong Unix/Linux and SQL experience who can contribute to both new feature development and client implementations, take ownership of technical areas, lead code reviews and support junior developers within an Agile environment.
