Summary: Petrofac is seeking a Senior Buyer for a 12-month PAYE contract in Aberdeen, focusing on sourcing and procuring materials and services for the energy industry. The role involves developing purchasing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with company procedures. The position supports a hybrid working model, requiring office presence at least three days a week. Candidates should have a minimum of three years' experience in expediting or purchasing roles, particularly within oil and gas projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and procure operations and engineering materials and services efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders for services, goods, and materials.
- Develop and implement project-specific purchasing strategies in collaboration with the Purchasing team and project teams.
- Review and ensure compliance with new supplier evaluations and applications.
- Participate in procurement planning to ensure timely supplier selection and order commitments.
- Coordinate with project teams to establish bidder lists and manage pre-qualification activities.
- Issue enquiries for goods/services and resolve pre-tender queries.
- Analyze tenders, clarify queries, and produce bid summaries and recommendations.
- Lead price negotiations with suppliers to achieve cost reductions.
- Manage post-order administration, including variations and invoice queries.
- Ensure compliance with procurement processes and statutory regulations.
- Utilize the ERP system (Oracle) for procurement activities and maintain procurement status reports.
- Liaise effectively with project teams and foster relationships with suppliers and clients.
- Lead and manage direct reports within procurement teams as applicable.
- Promote good business ethics and demonstrate a commitment to safety.
Key Skills:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an expediting or purchasing role, particularly in oil and gas projects.
- Local supply market knowledge.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Proven ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
