The Opportunity
We are supporting a global consumer group in its search for a senior M&A professional to support its expansion into alcoholic beverages through acquisitions in Europe.
The engagement is expected to run for approximately six to nine months, with a particular focus on potential distillery acquisitions in Scotland.
The successful candidate will work alongside the client's existing M&A team, providing senior transaction leadership and judgement throughout the acquisition process.
The role will focus on assessing opportunities, challenging valuations and transaction assumptions, guiding negotiations and deal terms, and helping determine the strategic and financial attractiveness of potential acquisitions.
Responsibilities
- Assess acquisition opportunities from strategic, commercial, and financial perspectives.
- Review and challenge valuations, transaction assumptions, and deal economics.
- Provide senior guidance on negotiations, pricing, transaction structure, and key commercial terms.
- Support the client's M&A team throughout diligence and transaction execution.
- Bring relevant alcohol and beverage transaction experience to identify sector-specific risks and opportunities.
Requirements
- Senior-level M&A, Corporate Development, Investment Banking, or transaction advisory experience.
- Direct transaction experience within alcoholic beverages.
- Strong buy-side M&A experience across valuation, negotiation, and transaction structuring.
- Strong commercial judgement and ability to challenge transaction assumptions independently.
- Based in the UK or Ireland.
- Willingness to travel to acquisition targets and periodically to meet with the client in India.
- Professional fluency in English.
Nice to Have
- Direct transaction experience involving distilleries or spirits businesses.
- Existing relationships within the UK and European alcoholic beverages sector.
- Experience with cross-border acquisitions involving international strategic buyers.
