Purpose of the role
The Data & AI Programme is a global transformation initiative focused on helping Arup create business value through trusted data, responsible AI, effective governance, and user adoption.
The Senior Business Change Manager will drive change management across the programme, applying Arup's 5A framework (Align, Appeal, Articulate, Action, Anchor) to develop and deliver change strategies, manage adoption risks, support stakeholders, and embed sustainable Data & AI practices across the business.
The role is key to ensuring successful adoption, business ownership, and long-term benefits.
What you'll do
- Lead the change management approach for Arup's global Data & AI Programme, ensuring successful adoption of data and AI capabilities across the business.
- Apply Arup's 5A Change Framework (Align, Appeal, Articulate, Action, Anchor) to drive engagement, readiness, and sustained behavioural change.
- Design and deliver change strategies, plans, and interventions for programme initiatives.
- Assess change impacts, adoption risks, and business readiness, implementing mitigation actions where needed.
- Partner with programme workstreams and stakeholders to embed change activities into delivery plans.
- Provide hands-on support for initiatives with the highest complexity, business impact, or adoption risk.
- Identify and manage change risks early, ensuring appropriate support and engagement mechanisms are in place.
- Track adoption and readiness metrics, building evidence that programme benefits will be realised.
- Support the transition of solutions into business-as-usual operations, ensuring long-term ownership and sustainability.
- Drive stakeholder engagement, communications, and user adoption to maximise business value from Data & AI investments.
The skills you'll need
- Business change experience within technology, data, AI, or digital transformation programmes.
- Strong knowledge of change management methodologies (Arup 5A, Prosci, Kotter, or similar).
- Experience engaging and influencing senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Understanding of change impacts related to AI, automation, trust, and data usage.
- Ability to prioritise change activity based on business impact, adoption risk, and benefits realisation.
- Skilled in developing practical change plans, adoption strategies, and readiness assessments.
- Data-driven approach, using feedback and adoption metrics to inform decisions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work through change networks, business owners, and champions to drive adoption.
- Inclusive and user-focused approach to supporting organisational change.
- Experience in global organisations; engineering, architecture, or construction sector exposure.
- Change management qualification or equivalent practical experience desirable.
