Senior Brand Manager – 9 Month FTC

We’re looking for an experienced and ambitious Senior Brand Manager to join a well-established FMCG food business on a 9 month contract. This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys working in a fast-moving environment, thrives on getting things done and is equally comfortable developing strategy, leading innovation and delivering brilliant marketing execution.

You’ll take ownership of a key consumer portfolio, helping to shape its future direction while delivering the annual brand plan and supporting the wider business strategy.

There is plenty of scope to challenge the status quo, bring fresh thinking to the table and make a visible commercial impact.

The business has an entrepreneurial culture and a collaborative approach, with teams working closely across marketing, sales, category, insights, product and design.

Flexible working is supported, with an expectation of being office-based around 2–3 days each week to enable effective collaboration.

You’ll be the person connecting the dots between consumer insight, creativity, innovation and commercial delivery.

From developing brand plans and campaigns through to launching new products and reviewing performance, you’ll own projects from initial idea through to execution.

The role would suit someone who is naturally curious, commercially minded and highly organised, but who also has the confidence and creativity to challenge conventional thinking.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Brand Strategy & Planning
  • Develop and deliver integrated annual brand plans designed to grow awareness, consideration, trial and loyalty.
  • Translate consumer and category insight into clear, compelling marketing strategies and activation plans.
  • Ensure campaigns and brand activity are delivered to a high standard, on time and within agreed budgets.
  • Support the Marketing Manager with wider masterbrand activity and work closely with activation teams to ensure above-the-line, digital, shopper and in-store activity works together effectively.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and retail partners, bringing clarity and energy to brand plans.
  • Portfolio Leadership
  • Take ownership of the strategy and development of a key consumer portfolio.
  • Balance long-term brand building with immediate commercial priorities.
  • Identify opportunities for growth, as well as potential risks and challenges, using consumer, category and commercial data.
  • Work closely with sales, category, insights and other brand teams to ensure plans are commercially relevant and consumer-led.
  • Influence and challenge stakeholders constructively to achieve the strongest possible outcome.
  • Innovation
  • Lead the innovation pipeline from early-stage concept development through to launch and post-launch evaluation.
  • Manage multiple NPD and EPD projects simultaneously, keeping stakeholders aligned and projects moving through the relevant approval stages.
  • Bring together consumer behaviour, market trends, product trends and commercial insight to identify compelling opportunities.
  • Partner closely with product development teams to translate ideas into propositions that consumers will genuinely want.
  • Take ownership of launch plans and evaluate performance afterwards, identifying learnings and opportunities for future activity.
  • Digital & Communications
  • Help define the brand’s digital strategy across social, CRM, website and paid media.
  • Develop engaging content and communications that strengthen the relationship between the brand and its consumers.
  • Lead external agency relationships, providing clear briefs, constructive feedback and strong direction.
  • Monitor performance and continuously optimise activity based on results and insight.
  • Commercial & Performance Management
  • Own and manage relevant brand budgets, ensuring investment is allocated effectively.
  • Track brand and campaign performance and identify the key factors driving growth.
  • Use data and insight to make clear recommendations and support business decisions.
  • Prepare regular updates for senior stakeholders, communicating progress, performance, risks and opportunities clearly.
  • Ensure marketing investment delivers strong effectiveness and return.

We’re looking for someone with a strong track record in FMCG brand marketing who can combine strategic thinking with excellent execution.

Ideally, you’ll have:

4+ years’ experience in brand marketing, with recent experience at Brand Manager or Senior Brand Manager level.

Experience within FMCG, ideally food or another fast-moving consumer category.

A track record of taking ownership, delivering high-quality work and turning plans into tangible results.

Strong experience across brand planning, campaigns, innovation and agency management.

Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities at once.

Confidence working with senior stakeholders and influencing cross-functional teams.

Experience briefing and managing creative, digital or media agencies.

Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of how brand activity translates into business growth.

Good knowledge of digital and social channels, including major social platforms and CRM.

Experience working with consumer and retail data, such as Kantar, Circana and EPOS information.

A genuine interest in consumers, culture, trends and what motivates people to choose one product over another.

The creativity and confidence to challenge traditional approaches and come up with better ideas.

Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to tell a compelling story using insight and data.

A proactive, solutions-focused mindset — someone who sees a problem and gets on with solving it.

A collaborative personality and the ability to build effective relationships across different functions.

The resilience and energy to operate successfully in a busy, constantly changing environment.
