Summary: The role of Senior Bioinformatician at a growing biotech company in Oxfordshire involves collaborating with bioinformatics leadership and the wider team on various research projects throughout the drug discovery and development lifecycle. The position requires hands-on analysis of transcriptomic and NGS data, optimization of existing tools, and proactive collaboration with other scientists. Key Responsibilities:
- Hands-on analysis and interpretation of transcriptomic and NGS data sets.
- Run existing tools and pipelines, optimizing them as necessary.
- Collaborate with bioinformatics and wet lab scientists to identify new approaches and solutions.
- Apply deep knowledge of bioinformatic techniques to solve complex problems.
- Identify new data sources and analytical solutions.
- Lead projects through proactive team participation and collaboration with senior research representatives.
Key Skills:
- PhD/MSc (or equivalent experience) in bioinformatics, computational biology, data science, or related fields.
- Strong track record of analyzing transcriptomic and NGS data sets.
- Understanding of molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, or related fields.
- Significant independent research experience in academia or industry.
- Good programming/scripting skills in R/BioConductor and/or Python, as well as shell scripting (Bash).
- Experience building NGS pipelines and/or developing database systems using SQL or similar.
- Good communication and team-working skills.
- Experience in antibody/immune receptor analysis or cell therapy approaches is an advantage.
