Summary: The Senior BI Developer role focuses on enhancing data-driven decision-making within a City-based Insurance group. The position involves designing and maintaining BI solutions, collaborating with teams to leverage analytics, and ensuring data accuracy and governance. The role is contract-based for an initial period of six months and requires expertise in Power BI and SQL. This position is classified as inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designing, developing and maintaining BI solutions (Dashboards, reports and data models-semantic) using tools such as PowerBI, SQL
- Identifying gaps/areas for improvement across the data eco-system and outline appropriate solutions
- Build and maintain automated, fault-tolerant, scalable data solutions that are continuously delivered into our production environment
- Gather, understand and document detailed business requirements for data using appropriate tools and techniques, and ensure these are agreed at all levels throughout the business.
- Provide source to target mappings and document data lineage to support partnering IT Engineering team to deliver data platform builds.
- Monitor, validate and reconcile the data collected on an ongoing basis, establishing internal confidence in the accuracy of the data available.
- Using our analytical tooling, build comprehensive automated reporting providing visibility on performance for internal and external stakeholders.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience working with data in an agile and dynamic team, with experience working with relational databases and writing SQL and/or python or similar
- Insurance, Lloyds of London experience
- Power BI (semantic data modelling and DAX skills)
- Data analysis, management, and visualisation expertise
- Experience in producing comprehensive governance documentation such as mapping out architecture dependencies, building easy-to-follow code annotations, data dictionaries, data lineage/flow documenting or production deployment requests.
- Experience in DataLake technologies (DataBricks, Azure Synapse) and/or Dataiku

Senior BI Developer is required to join a buoyant City-based Insurance group. This role will see you working across the organisation's brands to ensure that data remains at the forefront of decision making and that the appropriate data foundations covering architecture, systems and reporting are in place to enable this to happen. You will also work collaboratively with the wider team to provide the capability and capacity to leverage insight and analytics to address specific challenges within the business from ideation to delivery.
