Senior AWS DevOps Engineer (EKS & Microservices)

Summary: The role of Senior AWS DevOps Engineer focuses on leveraging cloud technologies, particularly AWS and Kubernetes, to enhance the infrastructure of a leading banking client in the UK. The position is contract-based for an initial duration of six months, requiring expertise in microservices and various AWS services. The engineer will work on-site in London for 1-2 days per week, collaborating with a team to implement and manage cloud solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Utilize Kubernetes, specifically EKS, for container orchestration.
• Implement infrastructure as code using Terraform (Enterprise).
• Develop and manage microservices architecture.
• Leverage AWS services including Cloudfront, S3, EKS, LoadBalancing, Security, API Gateway, and Transit Gateway.
• Utilize ArgoCD for continuous delivery.
• Implement observability with OpenTelemetry.
• Manage service mesh with Istio.
• Work with databases, ideally RDS (Oracle/Postgres) and MongoDB.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines using Gitlab.

Key Skills:

• Expertise in Kubernetes and EKS.
• Proficiency in Terraform (Enterprise).
• Experience with microservices architecture.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services.
• Familiarity with ArgoCD and OpenTelemetry.
• Experience with Istio.
• Database experience with RDS (Oracle/Postgres) and MongoDB is a plus.

• Kubernetes, specifically with EKS
