Summary: The Senior Auditor role involves conducting detailed examinations of financial systems and transactions to ensure compliance, improve controls, and identify efficiency savings. The position requires a CCAB qualified Accountant or AAT qualification and includes responsibilities such as performing audits and assisting in the management of the audit service. This is a full-time, temporary position based in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, with a hybrid working arrangement. Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake detailed examination of systems and transactions to ensure financial probity.
- Improve the standard of control and provision of information for management.
- Identify areas where efficiency savings could be achieved.
- Ensure compliance with Council policies.
- Evaluate controls and facilitate their development and maintenance throughout the Authority.
- Perform and report on systems, governance, and financial audits as allocated by the Audit Manager.
- Assist in the management of the audit service in the absence of the Audit Manager.
Key Skills:
- CCAB qualified Accountant or AAT qualification (or recognized auditing qualification).
- Experience in auditing and financial examination.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to evaluate controls and compliance.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
- Understanding of Council policies and governance.
