Summary: CMC is looking for a Senior Applications Engineer specializing in Servo Control to contribute to advanced motion and stabilization systems for a UK MOD program. The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, focusing on control systems modeling and real-world implementation. The successful candidate will engage in R&D activities to develop and commission servo-driven systems within a critical 12-month delivery timeline. This position requires a strong background in servo control and the ability to work in high-dynamic environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and model servo control systems, including PID tuning and motion behaviour analysis
- Implement and manipulate control algorithms at embedded level using C++
- Configure and optimise servo drives (gains, limits, profiles, safety parameters)
- Support commissioning, testing and troubleshooting of motion systems on hardware
- Analyse and improve existing control systems and performance characteristics
- Integrate servo systems with mechanical assemblies, sensors and embedded controllers
- Diagnose issues such as instability, resonance, friction and system coupling
- Support delivery of functional systems within programme timelines
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across mechanical, electrical and software disciplines

- Experience applying control theory (PID, feedback systems) in real-world environments
- Proficiency in C++ or embedded software development
- Hands-on experience with servo drives, motors, encoders or resolvers

Contract Key Details
- Contract Length: 12 Months
- Location: Norwich (Onsite 4 days a week)
- Hours: 37.5 (4 day week + Half Day Friday) or 32 (4 Day Week)

- Rate: Only Discussed On Phone Call - Different Depending On Experience!
