Summary: The Senior Alliance & Program Manager for Oncology at GSK will lead cross-functional teams to drive the successful delivery of diagnostic and biomarker programs. This role requires strong alliance governance and stakeholder management to ensure alignment across teams and external partners. The position is integral to maximizing value for the oncology portfolio through structured project delivery. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in project management within the pharmaceutical or biotech sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional teams across Clinical Development, Biomarker/Diagnostics, Data, Quality, Regulatory, Procurement, Finance, and Commercial to deliver project and alliance objectives.
  • Establish and manage alliance governance frameworks, including Joint Project Team (JPT) and Joint Steering Committee (JSC) meetings, ensuring clear documentation of decisions and actions.
  • Partner with scientific and business stakeholders to define objectives, success metrics, project scope, timelines, and roles/accountabilities.
  • Manage project scope, timelines, risks, dependencies, and issues, proactively driving resolutions to protect milestones and deliverables.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external partners, ensuring delivery against agreed scope, budget, quality, and timelines.
  • Translate contractual terms into operational plans, including milestones, reporting requirements, financial triggers, and compliance obligations.
  • Oversee budget tracking, forecasting, invoicing, and financial reconciliation in collaboration with Finance and Procurement teams.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, ensuring readiness for audits, inspections, and regulatory submissions.
  • Support the deal lifecycle, including agreement execution, amendments, renegotiations, and alliance transitions.
  • Drive continuous improvement, sharing best practices and lessons learned across multiple concurrent projects.

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biological Sciences, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in project/program management and/or alliance management within pharma, biotech, or diagnostics.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical R&D, clinical development, and biomarker/diagnostic programmes.
  • Advanced degree (Master’s / PhD / MBA).
  • PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent certification.
  • Experience in clinical trial design, drug development lifecycle, and diagnostics development.
  • Exposure to real-world data, AI, or data-driven initiatives.
  • Experience supporting business development, deal negotiations, and contract management.
  • Proven ability to manage external partnerships and matrix teams.
  • Strong stakeholder and alliance management skills.
  • Excellent project planning, risk management, and problem-solving capability.
  • Ability to influence across cross-functional and external teams.
  • Experience in compliance, governance, and inspection readiness.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Alliance / Project Manager to support Oncology Translational Medicine initiatives by driving the successful delivery of diagnostic and biomarker programmes across both internal and partnered projects.
