Summary: The Senior Agile Delivery Manager is a technical leader responsible for the hands-on delivery of software within a modern engineering environment, engaging directly with engineering teams. This role requires navigating technical trade-offs and driving the software development lifecycle while ensuring effective team leadership and stakeholder management. The position demands a strong background in Agile methodologies and technical fluency in modern software practices. A minimum of 60% office attendance is required, with locations in Newcastle, Leeds, or Birmingham.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as Scrum Master / Delivery Manager for software engineering teams on a day-to-day basis.
- Lead high-impact sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Actively remove blockers, manage scope, and maintain delivery momentum across sustained periods of active build.
- Work alongside developers, testers, and DevOps engineers to manage modern software engineering lifecycles.
- Confidently engage in discussions regarding technical trade-offs, resilience, security, and recoverability.
- Drive delivery within environments utilizing CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and cloud-native services.
- Challenge and guide senior technical and non-technical stakeholders using evidence-based reporting.
- Build trust through consistent performance metrics and radical transparency regarding delivery health.
- Complete delivery-related governance and change activity (e.g., ServiceNow).
- Refine prioritized backlogs in partnership with Product Managers and Technical Leads.
- Proactively manage cross-team dependencies and complex risks.
- Utilize Jira effectively for tracking and reporting at both the team and initiative level.
Key Skills:
- Proven track record in active software product delivery (Cloud migrations or CRM implementations alone are insufficient).
- Recent experience working directly with teams using Cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), CI/CD tooling, and Automated Testing.
- Expert-level application of Scrum/Kanban in a "build" rather than "maintenance" context.
- Experience influencing at the senior leadership level.
- Ability to navigate technical concerns like system security and service resilience.
