Summary: The Senior Advisor for the Chemicals Programme at the Environment Agency will lead compliance efforts related to Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in waste management. This role requires a technical leader with a regulatory background to engage with stakeholders, advise the government, and design regulatory approaches. The successful candidate will oversee evidence studies and ensure compliance with existing and new POPs restrictions. The position involves collaboration with various teams and may require some travel, including international work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the Environment Agency’s POPs compliance work and deliver environmental objectives.
• Provide technical leadership and advice to government and industry stakeholders.
• Design regulatory approaches based on knowledge of waste streams and management techniques.
• Plan and lead evidence studies for chemicals in waste streams.
• Collaborate with Waste and Resources teams to ensure compliance with POPs restrictions.
