Summary: The Senior Advisor for the Chemicals Programme at the Environment Agency will lead compliance efforts related to Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in waste management. This role requires a regulatory background and strong influencing skills to engage with various stakeholders, including government and industry. The advisor will design regulatory approaches and oversee evidence studies to support environmental objectives. The position involves some travel and collaboration with a diverse team across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Environment Agency’s POPs compliance work and deliver environmental objectives.
- Provide technical leadership and advice to government and industry stakeholders.
- Design regulatory approaches based on knowledge of waste streams and management techniques.
- Plan and lead evidence studies for chemicals in waste streams.
- Collaborate with Waste and Resources teams to ensure compliance with POPs restrictions.
- Engage with a diverse team and support inclusive workforce initiatives.
