Summary: The Senior Actuary (Risk) role at Canada Life UK involves supporting the Risk & Compliance department in managing financial risks and contributing to the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) process. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure effective risk management and adherence to regulatory frameworks. The role is pivotal in drafting reports, conducting stress testing, and maintaining the risk appetite framework within the organization. This is a 6-month fixed-term contract based in London.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) process and report for UK Division entities.
  • Design and implement stress and scenario testing, ensuring alignment with corporate exercises.
  • Review and analyze results of solvency assessments and stress testing to provide recommendations.
  • Lead drafting of sections within the ORSA Report and maintain ORSA records and standards.
  • Support the Head of Risk Oversight in providing financial risk oversight of pricing and underwriting initiatives.
  • Review key corporate initiatives and business planning processes.
  • Maintain the risk appetite framework and set risk limits aligned with business strategy.
  • Report risk exposures and draft financial risk-related sections of the CRO Report.
  • Coordinate with corporate entities to ensure alignment of risk frameworks and strategies.
  • Support team development to optimize performance within the Risk & Compliance department.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in the life insurance industry.
  • Good working knowledge of integrated risk and capital management.
  • Deep understanding of Solvency II requirements.
  • Experience in second line of defence risk oversight activities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for complex concepts.
  • Strong influencing skills with senior management engagement experience.

  • Proven track record of delivering under tight time pressure.
