Summary: The Controller – Reporting is a technical accounting expert responsible for overseeing Group reporting requirements and facilitating the external audit process. This role emphasizes the integrity of financial reporting, requiring a deep understanding of balance sheets and P&L, while also ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The position involves managing relationships with the Group Reporting function and leading financial reviews of new contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and manage the relationship with the Group Reporting function, ensuring continuous improvement of submission quality and detail, and drive timely resolution of all queries.
- Support and coordinate the external audit process, acting as a key liaison with auditors, tracking deliverables, and ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Maintain a thorough working understanding of the full balance sheet and P&L, ensuring appropriate accounting standards are applied and challenging others where necessary.
- Prepare technical accounting papers on key topics including provisions, judgements, new accounting standards, and dividends.
- Maintain SOX controls related to Reporting, including performing local GAAP to US GAAP reconciliations.
- Support development and maintenance of financial systems and processes, participating in projects and undertaking ad hoc tasks as required.
- Lead key monthly management meetings and deliverables, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting.
- Support financial review of new contracts, assessing accounting treatment and potential impacts on reporting.
Key Skills:
- ACA qualification preferred; ACCA/CIMA also considered.
- 4 years post-qualification experience preferred.
- Experience in a Reporting-focused role.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills.
- Experience in UK GAAP and US GAAP.
- Strong work ethic; self-directed and resourceful.
