Summary: The role of SENCO involves leading and managing SEND provision in a primary school setting during a 4-week sickness absence. The position requires immediate availability and offers full-time hours without teaching commitments. The successful candidate will work closely with parents, staff, and external agencies to support students with additional needs. This is a fixed-term contract based in Croydon, London.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading and managing SEND provision across the school
- Liaising closely with parents and carers, providing updates and attending review meetings
- Writing, reviewing and updating SEN Support Plans and relevant documentation
- Carrying out pupil observations to assess needs and monitor progress
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff and support staff to implement effective strategies and interventions
- Coordinating with external agencies and professionals where required
- Supporting the school in maintaining accurate SEND records and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements
- Advising staff on best practice to support pupils with additional needs
Key Skills:
- Qualified and experienced SENCO
- Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
- Available to start immediately
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
