Summary: The Security Services and Support Manager will lead a team responsible for security operations in a public-facing environment, ensuring compliance with training and licensing requirements. This role involves managing resources within budget, overseeing contract management, and responding to security incidents. The position requires strong leadership, customer service skills, and the ability to conduct risk assessments. The contract is for three months with a possibility of extension, starting ASAP.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of Security Team Leaders, Security Officers, Security Controllers, and Reception Staff.
- Ensure compliance with training objectives, SIA licensing requirements, and Council policies.
- Manage resourcing within budget targets, ensuring sufficient site cover at all times.
- Proactively manage staff sickness and absences, conducting return to work interviews and remedial actions.
- Ensure staff receive and maintain correct uniform and equipment.
- Oversee first-line contract management activities, including SLA scoring and QA monitoring.
- Act as the single point of contact for event security planning and resourcing.
- Complete and maintain H&S risk assessments and method statements.
- Build and maintain effective internal networks, responding to security and crime prevention matters.
- Lead response to security-related or emergency incidents across the corporate estate.
- Provide on-call cover one week in three, attending site if required.
- Support the Head of Security and cover duties of the Security Operations Manager during absences.
Key Skills:
- Experience managing security staff in a busy public-facing environment.
- Experience with 3rd party contract supply management.
- Strong customer service and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Explorer).
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
- Ability to undertake dynamic risk assessments and incident response.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience leading security team responses to incidents and emergencies.
- Ability to resolve customer complaints with a flexible, solution-driven approach.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and initiative.
- Knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation and practices.
- Understanding of Data Protection Act.
- SIA Door Supervisor Licence.
- SIA Public Space Surveillance License.
- HSE First Aid (training can be provided).
- Maybo Conflict Resolution Training (training can be provided).
- Level 4 award in Supervisory Management (training can be supported).
