Summary: The Security Engineer role focuses on identifying and prioritizing vulnerabilities in operational technology (OT) environments, coordinating remediation activities, and conducting risk assessments. The position requires collaboration with plant operations and engineering teams to implement security fixes while minimizing operational disruptions. The contract is expected to last between 3 to 6 months and is classified as outside IR35. The role is based in Worcestershire, England.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, assess, and prioritize vulnerabilities across OT environments, including industrial hosts, applications, and control systems.
- Coordinate and support remediation activities such as patching, upgrades, and configuration changes in live manufacturing environments with minimal operational disruption.
- Conduct risk assessments of OT systems and translate technical vulnerabilities into operational risk impacts for site and engineering teams.
- Work closely with plant operations, automation engineers, and vendors to plan and safely execute security fixes within agreed maintenance windows.
- Support OT security monitoring and improvement initiatives, including asset visibility, vulnerability management processes, and compliance with security frameworks.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in OT security, vulnerability management, or infrastructure security within industrial or manufacturing environments.
- Strong understanding of industrial control systems (ICS), SCADA environments, and OT architectures.
- Experience working with vulnerability scanning and security tooling (e.g., Qualys, Tenable, Rapid7 or equivalent).
- Familiarity with OT security frameworks such as IEC 62443, NIST 800-82, or similar.
- Experience coordinating remediation activities in live production environments, including change control and downtime-sensitive systems.
