Summary: The role of Security Engineer involves a mid-to-senior level position focused on implementing and maintaining security best practices within an infrastructure context. Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain cyber security best practices, including MFA, endpoint protection and patching.
  • Perform backup verification and regular restore testing.
  • Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
  • Maintain strong awareness of Infosec and Compliance (GDPR, data protection).
  • Deliver Windows Server administration (AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO).
  • Manage Microsoft 365 security (Exchange Online, Intune, Entra ID/Azure AD).
  • Support and secure virtualisation platforms (VMware or Hyper-V).
  • Execute patch management, vulnerability monitoring and system performance oversight.
  • Configure and secure VPNs (site-to-site and remote access).
  • Manage and troubleshoot Firewalls.
  • Maintain and enhance endpoint security controls.

Key Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of MFA, endpoint protection, vulnerability management and patching.
  • Experience with backup validation and DR/BCP planning.
  • Understanding of data protection regulations such as GDPR.
  • Hands-on skills with Windows Server, AD, DNS, DHCP and GPO.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 security tools including Intune and Entra ID.
  • Exposure to VMware or Hyper-V environments.
  • Strong networking skills including VPN configuration.
  • Experience with Firewalls and enterprise security tooling.
  • A proactive and analytical approach to threat mitigation and system hardening.

Security Engineer - £450/day - via umbrella - 3 months - South Coast (Hybrid) - SCC Flex Contract

We're seeking a mid-to-senior level Security Engineer with a strong infrastructure background and a focus on security best practice. This role blends hands-on systems engineering with core security responsibilities including MFA, endpoint protection, vulnerability management and compliance.

Your responsibilities as the Security Engineer:

  • Implement and maintain cyber security best practices, including MFA, endpoint protection and patching.
