Summary: The Security Architect role involves leading the cybersecurity architecture for a prominent UK organization in the energy sector, focusing on both IT and Operational Technology environments. The position requires collaboration with various teams to integrate security into solutions while managing risks and vulnerabilities. This contract role is hybrid, requiring three days on-site in the West Midlands, and is expected to last for an initial six months with a likelihood of extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide security architecture leadership across programmes and projects
- Own and define end-to-end security scope and architecture for global initiatives
- Drive security standards, patterns, and best practices across delivery teams
- Work closely with engineering, DevOps, and project teams to embed security into solutions
- Identify, assess, and manage risks, vulnerabilities, and residual risk ownership
- Conduct first-line risk assessments and supply chain/vendor security assurance
- Support vendor contract reviews ensuring appropriate security clauses are in place
- Offer hands-on guidance to development teams on cyber security principles
- Coordinate technical design reviews across security functions
- Maintain robust documentation for risk, compliance, and incident processes
- Stay current with emerging cyber threats, trends, and mitigation strategies
Key Skills:
- 3–6 years’ experience in a security architecture or similar role
- Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
- Strong analytical, risk assessment, and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent stakeholder communication skills (technical & non-technical)
- Experience working in fast-paced, agile delivery environments
- Ability to collaborate effectively across global teams and time zones

As a Security Architect , you’ll play a critical role in shaping and securing both IT and Operational Technology environments, helping to protect key infrastructure and support the organisation’s ambition to remain a trusted and innovative industry leader.

Your Experience
Our client is looking for a well-rounded security professional with a strong mix of architecture, risk, and delivery experience, ideally including:
- Experience securing Common Data Environments (CDE) and BIM solutions , aligned to ISO 19650
- Knowledge of ISO 19650-4 (Information Exchange) and ISO 19650-5 (Security Management)
- Exposure to enterprise system integration security
- Proven experience performing API security assessments and mitigation design
- Strong understanding of data security in regulated environments
