Summary: The role of Secondary Design Engineer involves working on renewable energy projects, specifically focusing on the design of systems up to 132kV, including Solar Farms and Battery Energy Storage Systems. The position requires a minimum of five years of experience in secondary design and proficiency in AutoCAD. The engineer will be responsible for developing both conceptual and detailed designs, as well as supporting panel manufacturers and addressing on-site design issues. This is a six-month contract based in Bristol, classified as outside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development of conceptual secondary designs up to 132kV (Contestable and Private Networks)
  • Development of detailed secondary designs up to 132kV (Contestable and Private Networks)
  • Creation of AC/DC schematics, general arrangements, wiring diagrams, interconnection diagrams, cable block diagrams, cable schedules, and core sheets
  • Development of standard secondary design schemes for 33/66/132kV systems
  • Preparation of Bill of Materials for Panel Manufacturers
  • Support for Panel Manufacturers' queries
  • Assistance with on-site secondary design issues, including red/green markup drawings
  • Production of a full suite of As Built Secondary Design drawings

Key Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in secondary design
  • EHV substation project design experience up to 132kV
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Excellent knowledge of published guidelines, ENA standards, and policies
  • Sound knowledge of engineering design principles
  • Understanding of construction methods
