We are seeking an Experimental DMPK Scientist to join the Oncology DMPK Experimental Team on a 12 month assignment , based at the AstraZeneca Discovery Centre, Cambridge, UK . This role offers an exciting opportunity for a junior scientist with practical experience in bioanalysis and/or in vitro DMPK to contribute to discovery-stage drug development within a highly collaborative scientific environment. The successful candidate will support the generation and interpretation of high-quality experimental data to inform progression of compounds across oncology discovery projects.
Accountabilities
The Experimental DMPK Scientist will be responsible for conducting laboratory-based studies to support discovery DMPK activities, with a particular focus on bioanalysis and/or in vitro DMPK . The role will involve execution of established assays, preparation and analysis of biological samples, data evaluation, and accurate documentation of experimental work. The postholder will work closely with colleagues across DMPK and wider multidisciplinary project teams to ensure timely delivery of data that supports project decision-making. They will also contribute to assay optimisation, troubleshooting, and the continuous improvement of laboratory practices, while maintaining high standards of scientific quality, data integrity, compliance, and safety.
Essential Skills/Experience

Desirable Skills/Experience
- knowledge of, or an interest in developing knowledge of, the following core DMPK principles
- Experience with LC-MS/MS in support of quantitative bioanalysis.
- Familiarity with in vitro DMPK assays such as metabolic stability, microsomal or hepatocyte incubations, permeability, protein binding , or related approaches.
- Experience of sample preparation techniques including protein precipitation, liquid-liquid extraction , or solid-phase extraction .
- Understanding of how DMPK data contributes to compound optimisation and progression in small molecule drug discovery.
- Previous experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CRO environment.
- Awareness of assay performance, troubleshooting, and laboratory workflow improvement.
