Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing, setting up, and clearing away equipment and materials for practical science lessons (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics).
- Ensuring all experiments are safely prepared according to teacher instructions and safety regulations.
- Maintaining laboratory equipment, including routine cleaning, calibration, and repairs where appropriate.
- Managing chemical stock, materials, and equipment inventories.
- Safely storing, labelling, and disposing of chemicals following CLEAPSS and school guidelines.
- Supporting teachers during practical sessions when required.
- Monitoring classroom safety, ensuring equipment is used correctly, and maintaining tidy, organised prep rooms.
- Assisting with ordering and replenishing science materials.
- Carrying out general administrative tasks to support the science department.
Key Skills:
- A relevant science qualification or strong interest/experience in laboratory work.
- Good understanding of laboratory safety and handling of chemicals.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, hands-on approach.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
