Summary: The School Finance Officer is responsible for managing the financial operations of a school in Bury, ensuring compliance with financial procedures and providing financial advice to senior leaders. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the school's accounting function in line with agreed procedures
- Provide financial reports and advice to the Senior Management Team
- Oversee ordering, invoicing, payments, and reconciliation of accounts
- Manage school fund accounts, income, fees, and recovery of debts
- Monitor budgets for trips, lettings, and school activities
- Liaise with auditors, finance partners, and external agencies
- Obtain quotes and advise staff on best value for money
- Line manage and support a small finance team where applicable
Key Skills:
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- AAT Intermediate, NVQ Level 3 in Business & Finance, or equivalent qualification
- Significant relevant experience in a finance role
- 3-5 years' experience working in an office environment at a senior finance level
- Some experience of leading or supervising a small team
- Strong ICT skills and effective use of finance systems and specialist software
- Full working knowledge of relevant financial policies, codes of practice, and awareness of relevant legislation
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team within a school environment
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload
- Methodical approach with excellent attention to detail
- Excellent communication and presentational skills
