Summary: The role of Packaging Engineer involves supporting the deployment of software, operating systems, and security patches across a Microsoft device and server estate. The position requires SC Clearance eligibility and focuses on packaging, testing, and deploying applications while maintaining configuration standards. The engineer will also automate patching processes and provide mentorship to colleagues. This role is hybrid and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Package, test, and deploy applications and updates (MSI/MSIX, Windows 10/11)
- Support OS migrations and maintain configuration standards
- Administer SCCM, MECM, Intune, and GPOs
- Automate patching processes and contribute to secure-by-design infrastructure
- Provide 3rd line support and mentor engineering colleagues
Key Skills:
- Expertise in MSI/MSIX packaging and defect remediation
- Hands-on OSD experience (e.g. MDT) and OS transitions
- Scripting with PowerShell, BAT, VB, or C#
- Strong communication skills and a proactive mindset
