Summary: Rubicon Consulting is seeking a SCADA Specialist/Commissioning Engineer for a 6-week contract in Scotland. The role requires expertise in SCADA systems and commissioning activities for a major energy infrastructure project. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in substation automation and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Commissioning and testing of SCADA systems within HV substations
- Integration and validation of substation automation and control systems
- Point-to-point testing and verification of communications
- Interface testing with protection relays, RTUs, PLCs, and network equipment
- FAT/SAT support and on-site troubleshooting
- Review and interpretation of technical drawings, schematics, and I/O lists
- Support energisation activities and site acceptance processes
- Ensure all commissioning activities are completed in line with project procedures and safety standards
- Produce commissioning documentation, reports, and test records
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as a SCADA Engineer or Commissioning Engineer within HV substations
- Strong understanding of substation control and automation systems
- Experience with SCADA integration and communications protocols such as: IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, IEC 104
- Experience commissioning RTUs, protection relays, network switches, PLCs and control systems
- Ability to fault-find and resolve commissioning issues on site
- Previous experience working on renewable, transmission, or utility projects preferred
- Comfortable working in live substation environments
- Electrical Engineering qualification or equivalent experience
- Relevant HV Authorisations advantageous
- Valid UK working rights
- Full UK driving licence preferred
