Summary: The SCADA PowerOn Specialist role in Glasgow involves supporting a critical utility technology initiative through hands-on experience with PowerOn Control and/or PowerOn Advantage platforms. The specialist will configure and maintain data connections to SCADA systems, ensuring accurate data extraction and storage for analytics. Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure, support, and maintain connection methods with the PowerOn Advantage system
  • Extract data from digital and analog variables and events for storage in a cloud-based database (e.g., Timescale or similar)
  • Work closely with engineering and IT teams to ensure accurate and efficient data collection and transformation
  • Integrate SCADA systems with other IT and OT systems, especially Historian Systems
  • Support control room operations with real-time issue resolution and troubleshooting
  • Ensure data accuracy, quality, and availability to meet operational and analytical needs

Key Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with PowerOn Control and/or PowerOn Advantage
  • Strong understanding of underlying database structures and experience in transforming and storing SCADA data
  • Familiarity with MV/LV electric distribution systems
  • Experience with telecontrol communication protocols such as: IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, IEC 101/104, ICCP
  • Proficiency in SQL and/or Python for data manipulation and customization within PowerOn
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in real-time operational environments
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, especially in cross-functional teams involving engineering, operations, and IT
