Key Responsibilities:
- Provide independent supervision and coordination of SCADA commissioning activities, including FAT, SAT, SIT, and on-site execution.
- Manage and coordinate SCADA commissioning activities on site, supervising contractors and ensuring quality and documentation of tests.
- Draft and maintain the SCADA Commissioning Plan, defining scope, QA/QC requirements, and timelines.
- Provide structured progress reporting to the SCADA Package Manager and Commissioning Manager.
- Ensure alignment with the overall project commissioning plan through close coordination with SCADA contractors and Electrical Commissioning Managers.
- Ensure commissioning activities comply with internal and external requirements, including project HSE rules and National Grid compliance obligations.
- Manage interfaces independently without requiring escalation for compliance matters.
- Support offshore assignments as necessary, requiring valid GWO certification.
Key Skills:

Senior S&C Engineer Representative 12 Months London, UK £500.00/day Umbrella Inside IR35 We are seeking a senior S&C Engineer Representative – SCADA Commissioning to support EPC Electrical Systems within SCADA. The purpose of the assignment is to provide independent supervision and coordination of SCADA commissioning activities, including FAT, SAT, SIT, and on-site execution, ensuring full compliance with standards, project specifications, National Grid requirements, and applicable HSE rules and local legislation. The consultant will assume day-to-day responsibility for managing and coordinating SCADA commissioning activities on site. This includes supervising contractors, ensuring quality and documentation of tests, signing off contractor checklists, and driving closure of snag lists. The consultant will be expected to draft and maintain the SCADA Commissioning Plan, defining scope, QA/QC requirements, and timelines, and to provide structured progress reporting to the SCADA Package Manager and Commissioning Manager. The role requires close coordination with SCADA contractors, Electrical Commissioning Managers, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment with the overall project commissioning plan. The scope covers commissioning of communication networks, radio systems, telephone systems, Substation Control Systems (SCS), WTG SCADA and grid compliance, metering systems, and, where applicable, VTMS systems. The consultant must ensure that commissioning activities are executed in accordance with internal and external requirements, including project HSE rules and National Grid compliance obligations. The Consultant must bring his/her own Iphone. External consultants’ equipment such as PCs, mobile phones and iPads must always be up-to-date with the latest iOS release. The owner must allow AirWatch security and management software for iPhones and iPads to be installed. The app is mandatory on all mobile devices used by staff (including External consultants) to protect them from cybercrime. The owner must grant approval for to remove apps, data and access from privately owned equipment if it is deemed to pose a risk in relation to security or the GDPR regulations, if the equipment is lost/stolen, or if the owner ceases to have an active contract with Magnit. When an external consultant, they must contact the IT Service Desk to remove all apps and data. The IT Service Desk can only support privately owned equipment in connection with AirWatch security and management software. Requirements: Prior experience working on projects is mandatory. The consultant must demonstrate familiarity with commissioning governance, reporting structures, documentation standards, and EPC delivery model. Candidates without prior experience will not be considered. The consultant must have substantial hands-on experience with SCADA commissioning in large-scale infrastructure or energy projects, including direct experience with Hitachi MicroSCADA and Substation Control Systems. In-depth knowledge of National Grid requirements and grid compliance processes is essential, including practical experience ensuring that SCADA systems meet grid code obligations during commissioning. The consultant must be capable of managing these interfaces independently without requiring escalation for fundamental compliance matters. A minimum of five years of relevant experience is required, supported by a technical background at B.Sc. level or equivalent. Experience aligned with IPMA B/C, PMP, or equivalent project management frameworks is considered advantageous. Strong stakeholder management, structured documentation practices, and the ability to operate effectively in high-pressure commissioning environments are expected. Valid GWO certification is mandatory, as the role may require short offshore assignments to support commissioning shifts if necessary. The consultant must be willing and physically able to undertake such trips on short notice. This is a senior-level assignment.
