Summary: A SCADA Developer - Solution Architect is needed for a fast-scaling advanced manufacturing business in the UK, focusing on electrification and clean technology. The role involves leading the design, development, and integration of SCADA and PLC systems, ensuring robust control architectures and secure data connectivity. The position supports smart factory initiatives through scalable automation platforms and requires collaboration with various teams to align automation with operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading full project lifecycle for SCADA/automation systems from concept, budgeting, and design to FAT, SAT, commissioning, and handover.
- Defining technical scopes of work for automation and SCADA vendors, ensuring alignment with internal standards and functional requirements.
- Coordinating with process, facilities, EHS, and quality teams to align automation with operational goals.
- Designing and implementing robust SCADA system architecture for real-time control, data acquisition, diagnostics, and alarm handling across the plant.
Key Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Controls Engineering.
- Good experience in SCADA and PLC system development.
- Hands-on experience with multiple PLC platforms Siemens (TIA Portal), Rockwell Automation, Beckhoff TwinCAT, Omron Sysmac.
- Strong background in SCADA development (Ignition, WinCC, AVEVA, FactoryTalk).
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and smart utility systems.
- Experience with protocols like OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT, Ethernet, Profinet etc.
- Solid understanding of industrial cybersecurity, change management, and validation compliance.
