Summary: We are seeking a hands-on SC Cleared Senior Subcontract/Technical Buyer to support complex engineering development programmes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering procurement and will work closely with technical teams to manage the sourcing of complex test equipment, prototype parts, and engineered materials. This role requires experience in secure Defence environments and effective supplier management. The position is focused on ensuring that procurement aligns with technical requirements and project needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work directly with Engineering teams to understand technical requirements
- Source, evaluate, and procure complex equipment and materials for development projects
- Run RFQs, negotiate pricing, and manage suppliers throughout delivery
- Support subcontract administration (no heavy contract drafting required)
- Manage purchasing activity for prototype and low-volume engineered items
- Work within secure Defence environments
Key Skills:
- Strong background in technical/engineering procurement
- Experience purchasing test equipment, electronic/mechanical components, or technical materials
- Proven ability to engage with engineers and translate requirements into purchasing actions
- Supplier management, negotiation, RFQ management
- Defence, aerospace, or other secure engineering project experience
