Summary: The SAP S/4HANA Accounting Consultant role involves leading the implementation of SAP S/4HANA Finance transformations, focusing on asset accounting and general accounting processes. The position requires a strong client-facing ability to articulate the business value of SAP technologies and to guide clients through their accounting requirements. This is a contract position with remote work flexibility and some travel to key locations in Europe. The consultant will be part of a multi-year program aimed at harmonizing finance processes across multiple countries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of SAP S/4HANA Finance transformations, focusing on asset accounting and general accounting processes.
  • Articulate the business value and change impact of S/4HANA Finance transformations to clients.
  • Guide clients in implementing the right processes based on legal requirements.
  • Provide direction to the implementation team and ensure business alignment.
  • Engage with related areas such as Portfolio & Project Management, Service Management, and Enterprise Asset Management.
  • Participate in Fit-to-Template workshops and support the design of future-proof solutions.

Key Skills:

  • Strong consulting background with at least 3 full-cycle S/4HANA implementations.
  • Deep SAP Accounting knowledge, particularly in FI-AA.
  • Ability to architect and drive end-to-end Controlling solutions in S/4HANA.
  • Solid understanding of integration with related modules and business processes.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, able to drive topics independently.
  • Experience in SAP Activate project environments.
  • SAP S/4HANA Finance certification preferred.

SAP S4 HANA Asset Accounting Consultant

Next Ventures are currently executing a search for a SAP S/4HANA Controlling Lead

Remote with some travel to Berlin, Stockholm and Amsterdam

6 months contract (possibility to extend)1-2 years .
EU nationals
(Dutch or German) language + English

  • The program is structured in two waves.
  • Wave 1 live and wave 2 is in realization and targets go-live in January 2027.
  • Wave 3 has just kicked off Fit-to-Template workshops and is planned for go-live in January 2028.

As a SAP Accounting Consultant, you play a critical client-facing role and show the ability to clearly articulate the business value and change impact of S/4HANA Finance Transformations. You are able to articulate the benefits of new SAP technology to our clients. You interpret client requirements and translates these into a solution, applying the standard SAP S/4HANA end-to-end business processes in Accounting, specifically:

  • FI-AA (Strong knowledge required)
    • You have a deep understanding of S/4H Asset Accounting
    • You can guide the business in their (Legal) requirements to implement the right process
  • General Accounting (supporting the posting flows and simple Chart of Account)
  • S/4HANA Leasing
  • Advanced Closing Cockpit
  • Intercompany Matching and Clearing
  • Document Splitting
  • Ledgers

You bring a strong Finance background and act as a subject matter expert in SAP FI-CO. Based on the global Finance template and new business requirements, you guide the design of future-proof solutions, leveraging standard S/4HANA capabilities. You provide direction to the implementation team and ensure business alignment.

Beyond Accounting, you understand the broader SAP landscape and can engage with related areas such as:

  • Portfolio & Project Management (SAP PPM, SAP PS)
  • Service Management
  • Enterprise Asset Management
  • Master Data Management

Project Context
A multi-year S/4HANA program across 150 legal entities in 6 EMEA countries. The goal is to harmonize and standardize Finance processes across regions (Nordics, Netherlands, Germany), replacing fragmented ECC systems.

  • The program is structured in two waves.
  • Wave 1 live and wave 2 is in realization and targets go-live in January 2027.
  • Wave 3 has just kicked off Fit-to-Template workshops and is planned for go-live in January 2028.
  • Global templates are finalized; local requirements are being mapped and validated.

Team
You will join the Accounting core team within the S/4HANA program, working closely with the Finance business lead, IT lead, business consultants, and key stakeholders from business units.

Qualifications

  • Strong consulting background with at least 3 full-cycle S/4HANA implementations
  • Deep SAP Accounting knowledge
  • Ability to architect and drive end-to-end Controlling solutions in S/4HANA
  • Solid understanding of integration with related modules and business processes
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills
