Summary: The SAP Payroll Specialist role involves supporting a Local Authority in West Sussex during the transition from SAP to Oracle systems. The position requires expertise in payroll processes and collaboration with functional leads to ensure a smooth migration. Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse the build and business process used in SAP to define, validate, and document business and functional calculation rules for HR and Payroll processes in Oracle.
- Engage with functional leads to map existing SAP business practices into Oracle compatible processes.
- Collaborate with functional leads and the SI to review configuration, integrations, reporting requirements, and data migration logic.
- Support functional leads with queries from SI on requirements, calculation rules, configuration, and data migration mapping.
- Participate in DM mapping, design sessions, and Playbacks.
- Check SAP for information requested, both technical and functional.
- Assist in answering queries about work structures, SAP configuration of HR and Payroll, and current business processes.
- Work with Functional Leads to write report specifications for Oracle reports based on SAP reporting.
- Participate in planning, undertaking, and investigating issues from UAT and PPR testing.
- Advise on legislative payroll and HMRC requirements during design and migration processes.
Key Skills:
- Experienced SAP Consultant with expert knowledge of payroll.
- Experience in similar projects within a Local Authority or Public Sector environment.
- Experience in system transformation/transition projects, ideally from SAP to Oracle.
- High-level reporting and presentation skills for advising senior stakeholders.
- Great communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Job Description
Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority in West Sussex for a SAP Payroll Specialist to join the team on a temporary basis. This assignment is a key role in the transition from existing SAP systems to Oracle systems for the authority.
Main Responsibilities
- Analyse the build and business process used in SAP to help define, validate, and document detailed business and functional calculation rules/requirements for the HR and Payroll processes in Oracle.
- Engage with functional leads to map existing SAP business practices into Oracle compatible processes.
- Collaborate with functional leads and the SI to review configuration, integrations, reporting requirements and data migration logic, based on their SAP knowledge.
- Support functional leads with addressing queries from SI on requirements, calculation rules, configuration, and data migration mapping (SAP related).
- Participate in DM mapping, design sessions (e.g. calculation rules) and Playbacks.
- Being able to check SAP for any information requested, both technical and functional (or know who to approach get this information).
- Assist in answering specific queries about work structures, SAP configuration of HR and Payroll and current business processes (with access to others to answer very specific questions).
- Work with the Functional Leads to write report specification for Oracle reports (based on SAP reporting) and be able to run reports in SAP or find sample outputs from SAP.
- Participate in the planning, undertaking and investigating issue from the UAT and PPR testing (from a SAP perspective).
- To be able to advise on legislative payroll and HMRC requirements as part of design and migration processes.
Candidate Criteria
- Experienced SAP Consultant with expert knowledge of payroll
- Experience of similar projects within a Local Authority or Public Sector environment is highly desirable
- Experience of system transformation/transition projects, ideally from SAP to Oracle or similar
- High-level reporting and presentation skills in order to provide advice to senior stakeholders
- Great communication skills with the ability to work well on own initiative as well as part of a team
